It's been parodied in everything from South Park to The Daily Show, and turned the simple action of holding up a boombox outside of someone's window into easily understood shorthand for love, devotion and borderline-stalker tendencies. They knew him from the iffy rom-coms, corny psychological thrillers or simply because Mom was a big fan. The boombox scene from 1989 teen romance Say Anything is one of those scenes so iconic that even if you haven't seen it, you've seen it. Their daughters weren’t raised on Say Anything’s boombox scene. ![]()
